SAVINGS BANK OF WALPOLE ELECTS FIRST WOMAN

CHAIR OF THE BOARD

Keene, NH -- Savings Bank of Walpole is pleased to announce Sylvia McBeth has been appointed Chair of the Board of Trustees, becoming the first woman to be elected to this position in Savings Bank of Walpole’s 142-year history.  She replaces Gary Kinyon who completed his maximum three-year term as Chair.

“Sylvia was unanimously chosen by her peer Trustees and we’re extremely honored to welcome her as our new Chair of the Board,” says Gregg Tewksbury, President and CEO for Savings Bank of Walpole. “I’m confident that the bank will continue to climb to new heights and enjoy ongoing success under her leadership.”

McBeth became a Corporator of the Bank in 1997 and has served as a Trustee since 2001. Her longtime professional career in healthcare administration has included serving as the immediate past chair of the Board of the Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth Hitchcock-Keene and she has served on local, regional, and statewide Boards.

She has received numerous awards for her leadership and over thirty years of civic contributions including Greater Keene Citizen of the Year and the Antioch University of New England's Horace Mann Spirit of Service Award. She is also a Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Fellow.

“I am pleased to be in a leadership position of such a well-run enterprise like Savings Bank of Walpole,” says McBeth. “In the almost twenty years that I have been involved with the Bank as a Corporator and a Board member, it has been a privilege to be part of an organization that is managed with integrity and puts customers and staff first.  I have learned that if you work hard, are willing to learn, ask questions and respect everyone¹s point of view, people want to work with you. In that vein, there is no doubt that I am proud to be the first woman in the Bank’s 142-year history to be elected to serve as Chair of the Board!” McBeth resides in Keene with her husband Craig and has two children who live out of state.
